Last night the Freshman White Team came out victorious against Eaton Freshman at Kangaroo Stadium. The Kangaroos got things going early as they were able to run at a wild pace behind Manny Hernandez’s power running. The Roos got the first score at the start of the 2nd Quarter with Lane Cowley plunging in from 1 yard out making the score 6-0. The Roos followed that touchdown with a crucial 2 point conversion pass from Cowley to John Lewark on a slant over the middle. The score stayed 8-0 into the fourth quarter as the Defenses held strong. Although the Roos were able to move the ball all night Eaton made some big stops keeping the Roos at bay. As the Offense struggled to put the ball in the endzone the Defense stepped up big getting big plays and great team efforts. The Roos were led on Defense by Dominik Murillo, Matthew Merrifield, Dane Spooner and Manny Hernandez as they seemed to be in or around every tackle all night. The Eagles had a chance to tie the game late in fourth and the Defense stepped up big again stopping a two point conversion play on the one yard line. The Freshman White Team after taking a victory knee are now 1-1 on the year and will return to the field next Thursday against Cleburne at Kangaroo Stadium. The Freshman Blue team will play in Crowley tonight starting at 5:30 PM.
