Last night the Freshman Blue Team went to Crowley to play the Eagles on the first road trip of the year. The Roos dominated from the start Defensively and didn’t let up as the Offense started to pull away late. The game started as the Crowley Eagles returned the opening kickoff to the Roos 10 yard line but after 4 straight plays the Defense got the ball back to the Roos Offense on the 30 yard line. The game stayed scoreless with a dominating defensive performance by the Roos until the end of the second quarter when Brandon Hutto fell on a fumble by the Eagles in the endzone for a defensive score making it 6-0. CJ Thornton connected with Britton Burrows on a quick pass for the 2 point conversion pushing the score to 8-0 at halftime. When the Roos took the field in the 3rd Quarter they pushed the ball down the field eventually running out of gas but putting the Eagles back against the goal. The Roo Defense again dominated the field and got the ball back to the offense and they finally punched it in the endzone on a 10 yard pass from Thornton to Burrows for a 14-0 lead. The 2 point conversion was converted on a 3 yard pass completion to Peyton Middleton from Thornton. The scoring ended when Joseph Polk was able to punch in a 9 yard TD run with 2 minutes left in the game. The Roos were led on Defense by Xavier Holder, Isaac Chapa, Andrew Groh and Jackson Thompson as they kept pounding the through the Offense and tackling everything that came around them. On Offense the Roos were led by Joseph Polk, Britton Burrows and CJ Thornton. The Roos are now 1-1 on the season and will be back home next week against Cleburne.
