The Freshman Blue team traveled to LD Bell on Thursday night for the first District matchup of the year. The defense started strong as Nick Limon hit the running back in the backfield for a loss while also stripping the football loose and teammate Andrew Groh recovering the ball on the LD Bell 13 yard line. The very next play saw the Roos getting on the board with a pass from CJ Thornton to Gatlin Lochabay for a 13 yard score. After the extra point the Roos took a 7-0 lead. Trading turnovers over the next two possessions the Roos once again found themselves in the endzone after a 10 yard run up the middle by Joseph Polk. The Roos would strike again in the first quarter on a pass from Lane Cowley to Britton Burrows as Britton sliced through the Bell defense for a 30 yard touchdown. The Defense stood tall again as they got the ball back to the offense and once again before the quarter ended with Andrew Groh rushing up the middle for a 4 yard Touchdown run. The second quarter saw the same thing as the Defense stifled the Bell Offense all night and Joseph Polk would again strike for the Roos offense on a 53 yard scamper for another TD. Polk would score again early in the 4th Quarter on a 70 yard run. As the defense was working toward the second shutout of the season Dane Spooner would get on the board with a run around the end for a 32 yard touchdown. The night ended with Lane Cowley taking a victory kneel to seal the 48-0 shutout district win. The Roos are now 2-2 on the year and more importantly 1-0 in District play.
