The Freshman Blue Team traveled to Fort Worth last night and took on the Paschal Panthers as they extended their winning streak by winning 34-0. The Defense showed up strong as they continuously stuffed the Panthers Offense as they held them to under 75 yards of total offense. The Roo Offense did its part scoring on every drive they possessed up until running the clock out in the final seconds of the game. The game started off with a quick 3 and out by the defense and then the offense going 40 yards capped off by a 4 yard Joseph Polk TD run and a Samuel Roderick extra point. On the ensuing kickoff the Roos Alex Landaros and Nick Limon combined for a monster hit causing the Panthers return man to fumble as LJ Watson jumped on the ball to give the Roos a short field. The drive was capped by a 19 yard pass from CJ Thornton to Britton Burrows to give the Roos a 13-0 advantage. The second quarter saw much of the same results as the Defense would force another punt and the Roo offense took over on their own 43 yard line. After a couple of runs by Polk, Thornton would hit Burrows on a beautiful deep ball for a 41 yard score. After the Roderick kick the Roos led 20-0. Right before halftime the Roos would score again on another deep pass from Thornton this time to Xavier Holder as he outleaped the defender for a 37 Yard TD giving the Roos a commanding 27-0 score. The second half saw a quick clock and a lot of ground chewing by the Roo offense as they again would cap off their 5th drive of the game with an 11 yard run by Polk. The scoring would be complete for the game as Roderick kicked the extra point giving the Roos a 34-0 lead. The game saw the Roos defense hold the Panthers out of the endzone from inside their own 15 yard line completing the shutout as the Roo offense would work down the field eating clock and yards to finish the game. The game was a well-played team game that saw some great things from many individuals. The Offense was led by a near perfect passing night by CJ Thornton only missing on two passes and Joseph Polk as he rushed for 2 TD’s and 100 yards of total offense. The offensive line consisting of Kyran Goolsby, Xavier King, Peyton Dekin, Beau Burleson, and Kyle Gibson, Fullback LJ Watson as well as Tight End Peyton Middleton (3 catches for 45 yards) opened holes all night and kept the defense at bay for the offense to succeed. The Defense was led by Andrew Groh, Alex Landaros, and our Birthday kiddo Brandon Hutto. The Freshman Blue team is now 5-2 on the year and 4-0 in District Play and will return to the field next Thursday at Roo Stadium facing off against a tough Boswell team.
