Boswell 19

The Roos stayed undefeated in district play by beating the Boswell Pioneers on Thursday night. Boswell struck first by scoring on a short touchdown run to go up 7-0. The scoring for the Roos started off with familiar connection of CJ Thornton to Xavier Holder for 19 yards. The Roos then held on defense and got the ball back in Thornton's hands. The Roos passed the ball down the field to Holder, Britton Burrows, and Gatlin Lochabay. The Roos finally punched it in with LJ Watson from a couple of yards out making the score 14-7 with the kick by Samuel Rodrick.
The Roo Defense held again, thanks to some big plays from Andrew Groh and Nick Limon. This led to the Roos offense taking over where Britton Burrows took a hitch route the distance from 35 yards out. The end of the first half saw turnovers by each team but the score stayed 21-7.
The second half the Roos took the ball and had some big plays but they were negated by penalties and eventually turned it over on downs. The Pioneers answered back but missed the kick leaving it 21-13 with five minutes left in the third quarter.
The next drive the Roos established the run with running back Joseph Polk and the offensive line. Polk had two big third down conversion runs to keep the drive alive. Thornton finished the drive with a QB sneak from one yard out. This made the score 28-13 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
The 4th quarter started with the Roos on defense and saw some nice plays including a pass break up by Hayden Ribera and a big tackle for loss by Jackson Thompson. The Roo offense took over and on the third play Thornton found Holder again for a 37 yard touchdown. With the kick by Rodrick the Roos then led 35-13.
The Pioneers added a late touchdown to make it 35-19.
After trading possessions the game was sealed with an interception by Xavier Holder.
