Lady Roos Playoff Run Ends vs Eaton

The Lady Roos volleyball team finished a terrific season at home vs VR Eaton in the third round of the playoffs. The Lady Roos finish the season at 23-3.

1st Set – Eaton 25-21
First set the Lady Roos got out to a hot start with a 4-1 lead that quickly became a 4-4 tie. The Roos took it to 6-4 with a pair of Kate Hansen blocks. Eaton took the lead 8-6 until a Hansen block made it 8-7. Abbie Lane had a kill to bring the game to 9-8. Eaton then widened the lead taking it to 14-10 despite a great dig by Kayleigh Bateman and kill by Riess Griffith. The Lady Roos worked their way back with a kill by Hansen to make it 15-13 Eaton. Down 17-13 Coach Nick Gay took a timeout and the Roos responded with two quick points thanks to a kill by Lynsey Lee and an ace by Hansen. A Lane kill later brought the score to 18-16 Eaton. Another Lane kill got the score back to 19-17. Every run the Roos would go on, the Eagles would answer. Griffith got the Roos back to 20-18. The Eagles ran it up to 22-18 but then a Hansen kill and block brought it back to 22-20. A Loran ace got it to 22-21 Eaton and led to the first Eaton timeout. The Roos got down 24-21 on some hard fought points and Coach Gay took his second timeout of the set. Eaton would win the set 25-21.

2nd Set – Eaton 25-17
Eaton got out to a fast start 5-0 that led to the first Weatherford timeout. Afterr the timeout Lane and Lee had kills to get the score back to 5-2. Down 10-4 the Roos went on a run to get it to 10-7 with Keegan O’Connor serving and a big Hansen kill. Another Hansen kill got it down to 11-8 Eaton and with Hansen now serving the Eagles had a kill error to get it to 11-9 Eaton. A Loran dump shot got it back to 12-10 with the teams trading off serves, but a HUGE Lane kill brought it to 12-11 and Loran serving for a chance to tie. A Griffith kill did exactly that leading to an Eaton timeout. The Eagles went on a run to get up 23-16 before Hansen got a kill to bring it one point closer. Eaton closed out the set 25-17.

3rd Set – Weatherford 25-21
The Roos got off to a great start with a Evelyn Benson kill and a Hansen block to get it to 4-2 Weatherford. Next Abbie Lane got a kill to make it 5-2. After kills by Lee and Lane the score ran up to 8-4 Roos and an Eaton timeout. Following the timeout the Roos responded with two quick points, a kill by Lane and a Bateman ace to go up 10-4. The Eagles went on a run to get it 13-12 Lady Roos until kills by Evenlyn Benson and Hansen took it back up to15-12. A great save by Lee and error by Eaton took it to 17-13 Roos. Benson continued to have a great second set with another kill to get it up to 18-14. The Eagles took the next three points and led to a Weatherford timeout. After the timeout the Lady Roos scored three quick points of their own with Lee serving to bring the lead to 21-17 and force Eaton into their first timeout. A Lee ace following the timeout got it to 22-17. A Hansen ace closed off the set for the Lady Roos 25-21.

4th Set –
Lee got the scoring started off in the fourth set with a kill. After Eaton got up 3-1 a Benson kill helped stop the bleeding. A Lee kill and Hansen/Loran block tied the score at 4, and a Lee ace took it to 5-4 Roos. Down 8-6 the Roos took a timeout and quickly got a Hansen kill to gain a point. Eaton took a 12-8 lead even with some great hustle plays by Loran and Hansen, but Lane brought it back to 12-9 with a kill. Later Lane had a big block to get it to 13-10. The Lady Roos got down 17-11 before taking a timeout. A Loran dump shot got it back to 18-13 Eaton. Eaton’s run continued until 21-13 until a Lane kill stopped it. Lane finished the scoring for the Roos at 18, and that is how the set ended 25-18.
