12/1/2020 Basketball Report

Weatherford vs Azle
The Weatherford Kangaroo Boys Basketball team was down big early but made a huge comeback to even take the lead late in the 4th quarter. Azle sent the game to overtime with a late bucket and ended up winning in overtime. This puts the Roos at 2-3 on the season and play next on Saturday vs Decatur at WHS, the Freshman start at 10am and the varsity is at 1pm.
Down 16-8 at the end of the first quarter and 28-23 at halftime the Roos were in a hole for the entire first half, but the scrappy bunch fought their way back to taking a lead early in the fourth quarter. The game went back and fourth most of the fourth quarter but ended up with a tie in regulation to send the game to overtime. In overtime the Hornets got a quick bucket to take the lead 58-56 and they never looked back.
The Roos were led by Braden Carter 23 points with excellent defense down the stretch against their best player. Brady Caudill also had a huge game with 12 points and a couple of huge steals and timely buckets to eat away at the Hornet lead in the second half. Freshman Kane Chandler had a huge three to give the Roos the lead 56-54 with one-minute left to play in regulation. He finished the game with 12 points and three 3-pointers.

Weatherford vs Stamford
The Lady Roo Basketball team lost to Stamford last night 60-34. The Lady Roos were led by Hannah Kness who had 12 points on the night, fresh from volleyball in her first game Lauren Lee had 6 points, Emily Bird had 4 points, and Madison Buckley and Brailey Bezio each had three points.
This puts the Lady Roos at 1-5 on the season and play next on Saturday vs Abilene at Abilene, the Freshman start at 11am and the varsity is at 5pm.
