The Weatherford Roos took to the court Tuesday night in Cleburne after a few cancellations over the last week and showed that they have been missing the court. The night started with the JV coming out and pressuring the Yellowjackets into turnover after turnover. Blaine Kapka and Darian Gayfield were all over Cleburne turning steals into layups all night long. The next game showed the Freshman team which has not played a game in over 2 weeks and also just got a new group of footballers into the mix taking on a very talented group of Yellowjackets. The Roos battled hard all game as they fell behind big early but outplayed the Yellowjackets in the second half. Although they lost the game there was a lot of great things that we are really excited about moving forward. The night ended as the Varsity Roos defeated the Yellowjackets 46-39. The Roos got out early taking a 14 point lead into the half behind a great team defensive performance. Although Cleburne cut into the lead by the end of the 3rd quarter the Roos battled to finish off the Yellowjackets. Brady Caudill sealed the game as he was able to wrap up some key offensive rebounds on misses from the free throw line helping to run out the clock. The Roos will next be playing at home on Thursday as the Freshman and JV will be playing at 5:00 PM followed by the Varsity at 6:30 PM against WF Rider.
