February 12, 2021

Roos
Weatherford 49
Chisholm Trail 51

The Roos hosted Chisholm Trail on Friday afternoon and lost at the buzzer 51-49. This was senior night for the Roos and celebrated the careers of Tyson Smith, Beau Morrison, Brayden Boatright, Ameer Adel, Brady Caudill, and Braden Carter.
The first quarter got off to a great start with Braden Carter hitting a shot and the foul giving him a three-point play. Later he had a post-up move and a three to give him eight points for the opening quarter. In that first quarter Ameer Adel hit a three as well to give the Roos the lead at 11-10. Brayden Boatwright had a bucket in the first quarter to push the lead to 13-12 and that is where the first quarter ended.
The second started out with a quick two from Hayden Hansen. Braden Carter had another two later on an offensive rebound and assist from Brady Caudill to push the lead to 17-14. Later Hayden Hansen had a rebound and add two more points to the Kangaroo lead. Carter kept the hot hand by hitting another jumper to get the lead to 21-15. Carter continued to torment the Rangers by getting another and one late in the second. The half finished up with the Roos leading Chisholm Trail 30-22.
To start the second half Beau Morrison hit his first shot of the game from WAY downtown to make the Roo lead double digits. After trading shots back and forth the Rangers closed out the quarter on a 14-5 run and sent the game into the final quarter with the Roos leading 38-36.
In the fourth the Roos got going with Caudill getting a rebound and put back and Carter hitting a driving shot in the lane. Later Smith hit one from the elbow to continue the tug of war with the Rangers. Smith was limited in the second half playing much of it with four fouls. The Roo defense buckled down late but so did the Rangers. With 20 seconds left to play the Rangers had the lead 51-49 thanks to the Weatherford crowd helping force two missed free throws by Chisholm Trail. The Kangaroos had a shot with less than five seconds remaining but it fell short. The Roos fought hard all day long but just came up short 51-49.
