Softball Keeps Winning Ways in Mansfield Tournament

The Lady Roos played 3 games Friday and Saturday to complete their participation in the Mansfield Invitational, winning all 3 and remaining undefeated on the season at 4-0-1. In Friday’s game vs Richland, Grace Thompson and Gabby Montanez each drove in 2 runs and scored 1 apiece, while Bella Garcia led the team with 2 hits. Bella, Morgan Skold, Addie Tidwell and Mikayla DeMichele all scored runs, with Lauren Belles picking up the win. In Saturday’s games, the Lady Roos came from being down 5-0, scoring 6 runs in their final at bat to beat Mansfield Lake Ridge 6-5. Morgan Skold, Hannah Reed, Addie Tidwell, Kaylee Embrey, and Landry Fonseca each had 1 hit, with Reed, Skold, Embry, Fonseca, Peyton Contreras and Grace Thompson scoring runs. Fr. Gabby Montanez went the distance and picked up her 1st varsity victory. In the final game of the weekend, the Lady Roos downed Irving Nimitz 9-5. Morgan Skold led with 2 hits, 2 RBI, and 1 run scored, while Hannah Reed, Hanna Bartels, Addie Tidwell, Bella Garcia, Gabby Montanez, Peyton Contreras, Grace Thompson, and Kaylee Embry each scored 1 run. Tidwell, Garcia, Thompson, Montanez, and Contreras also contributed base hits with Lauren Belles picking up her 3rd win of the year. The game ended on a spectacular double play with Hanna Bartels throwing out a runner at the plate from left field, and catcher Addie Tidwell then throwing to Kaylee Embry at 3rd to tag out a runner trying to advance. The Lady Roos return home Tuesday night to play Granbury, JV at 5 and Varsity at 7, please come out and support the girls if you are able!
