Bi-district Champs!
The Lady Roos competed in the Bi-district round of the UIL playoffs this past weekend, defeating Byron Nelson 2 games to 1 to advance to the Area Round. After splitting the 1st 2 games, the Lady Roos returned home for Saturday’s deciding game 3 and came away with a decisive 10-2 victory. Lauren Belles was the winning pitcher, throwing 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing 6 hits and 2 runs while striking out 5. Sarah Crews picked up the save, pitching the final inning and a third allowing only 1 hit and striking out 3. Offensively the Lady Roos were led by Sarah Crews’ 2 hits, including a double , a triple, and 3 RBI. Kaylee Embrey had a triple and 2 RBI, Landry Fonseca had 2RBI, and Hanna Bartels, Grace Thompson, Morgan Skold, and Kayleigh Cassels all contributed base hits in the win. The Lady Roos will play Wolfforth Frenship this Friday and Saturday in Iowa Park in the Area round, game times Friday at 7 pm, Saturday and 12 pm, and game 3 if necessary 30 minutes after game 2.
