The Lady Roo Volleyball team started out the season with a big victory over the Abilene Eagles. 25-17, 25-12, 25-14

In the first set the Lady Roos got started by a kill from Evelyn Benson from Rosin Owen. The Lady Roos never trailed and were led by Riess Griffith. The big momentum shift happened when freshman Claire Connors had a huge kill to make the score 17-10. The final for the set was 25-17.

In the second set senior Kate Hansen, who is committed to Texas Tech, took over. The Lady Roos were tied at 5 and then went on a huge run to get the score to 16-7. A large part of the run was with senior Veronica Cruz serving. Junior Jordan Northcutt had a huge kill in the second from Madi Ballard. Later on Owen served up another nice ball in which Griffith put away to make the score 19-9. Sophomore middle Berkley Austin-Roark gave Weatherford some fireworks with a huge kill from Owen. Hansen finished off the set with two big kills.

The third set the Lady Roos dominated 25-14. Benson had four big kills from Owen to get the Lady Roos up early. Later in the set Cruz had three aces that pushed the lead to 19-6. At the end of the set Connors brought the thunder with a kill from Ballard.

The Lady Roos play again this weekend in the Denton Ryan tournament.
