The Roo Football team came back from being down 14 in the 3rd quarter to win in overtime on Friday night vs the previously undefeated LD Bell Blue Raiders. This improves the Roos to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in district.
Down most of the game the Roos patiently kept at the attack on Bell by rushing Junior Jojo Polk. Polk ended the game with 28 carries for 256 yards and three touchdowns. This now puts Polk within 73 yards of 1,000 on the season in just six games.
His brother Melvin Polk had six catches for 51 yards and three rushes for 58 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback CJ Thornton was 11/19 for 105 yards and ran the ball three times for 19 yards and a score. Senior utility man Ryan Clark rushed the ball nine times for 37 yards and a score; he also had three catches for 40 yards.
Defensively the Roos came up big when they needed it. They were led by junior linebacker Andrew Groh. Groh had a team high 10 tackles including two for loss. Barrett Smith also had six tackles including one sack that forced a Blue Raider punt.
The Roos take on North Crowley next Friday at home.
